SUMMARY & HIGHLIGHTS

  • 59% of respondents said the phrase “honest and trustworthy” describes Obama well or very well. Just 31% said it described Netanyahu well or very well.
  • 65% of respondents said they wanted President Obama to get actively involved to help solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
  • 60% of respondents said that the current Netanyahu government in Israel definitely or probably would not be able to reach a two-state agreement. Only 31% said that it definitely or probably would be able to do so.
  • 53% said they thought President Obama’s active involvement could raise the chances of a two-state agreement “very much” or “somewhat” – only 19% answered “not at all”.
  • Hagal Hahadash polled 502 Jewish Israelis as a representative sample of the population on 13 May 2009. The margin of error is +/-4.5%.
