10,000+ American Jews Petition Bush and Sharon

More than 10,000 U.S. Jews signed a petition calling on Israel and the United States to relocate Jewish settlers to Israel proper. Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, a left-wing U.S. group, gathered the signatures in the lead-up to last week's announcement that the Bush administration would recognize a measure of Israel's claim to the West Bank in exchange for a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and part of the West Bank. The group rejects any unilateral withdrawal without negotiations. Signatories include playwright Tony Kushner, feminist Gloria Steinem and actor Ed Asner.
