Brit Tzedek v'ShalomJewish Alliance for Justice and PeaceFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 24, 2009 Brit Tzedek v'Shalom Responds to the Goldstone Report: WE MUST REDOUBLE OUR EFFORTS TO WORK FOR PEACE The Goldstone report is and will continue to be the source of much debate within the American Jewish community, Israel and beyond--one that will, on balance, probably raise more questions than it could ever answer. Tragically, what the report makes crystal clear is how treacherous and ugly the ramifications of the unresolved Israeli-Palestinian conflict are for both peoples. Working to achieve a negotiated, two-state resolution is the only viable path forward to prevent such devastation in the future. With great sorrow over the suffering highlighted in the Goldstone report but with an unwavering commitment, we renew and redouble our efforts in support of peace between Israelis and Palestinians, and Israel and her neighbors throughout the region. We stand with President Obama and his statement of Sept. 22, 2009: "Despite all the obstacles, despite all the history, despite all the mistrust, we have to find a way forward... Success depends on all sides acting with a sense of urgency." Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, the Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace, is a national grassroots organization nearly 49,000 strong that educates and mobilizes American Jews in support of a negotiated two-state resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
