In a statement released today, Brit Tzedek’s President Marcia Freedman said: "We are encouraged that Secy. Rice recognizes the value of including Syria in the conference. This demonstrates that the United States wisely recognizes how important it is to bring all parties to the table if progress is really going to be made in negotiating a settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We are also pleased to see that an Israeli government spokesperson has indicated that the government has no objections to Syria's participation in the conference. Brit Tzedek will closely follow the development of the conference’s agenda in the hopes that it will prove key to achieving the ends goal of a viable Palestinian state at peace with Israel.” Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, the Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace, is a national grassroots organization more than 36,000 strong, that educates and mobilizes American Jews in support of a negotiated two-state resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict |
