Local Rabbis Sign Letter for Peace

The Jewish Advocate

March 10, 2006

Nearly 50 New England rabbis signed a letter with 400 rabbis across the country urging President George W. Bush to “maintain a cautious approach to the new Palestinian government, so as to preserve the future possibility of bringing Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table, which is the only path to achieve true peace and security for both peoples.”

Rabbi Toba Spitzer of Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in Newton said: “It is in Israel’s best interests, and the interests of the peace process, to keep all channels of negotiation open and not cause such hardship among the Palestinian people that they will be driven further toward their extremism.”
