The Jewish World
November 10, 2005

Albany – A delegation from the Capital District Chapter of Brit Tzedek v’Shalom met recently with Congressman Michael R. McNulty (D-Green Island) to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian situation. Brit Tzedek is a national organization committed to Israel’s well-being through the achievement of a negotiated two-state solution according to Jack Alexander, chairperson of the local chapter.

McNulty expressed his view, that he believes to be widely held among his colleagues in Congress, that chances for a peaceful two-state solution have improved with the death of Yasser Arafat, the elction of Mahmoud Abbas as president of the Palestinian Authority, and the Israeli disengagement.

The Brit Tzedek delegation stressed hat a majority of American Jews regards a negotiated two–state solution as critical to the survival of Israel as a Jewish, democratic state. The delegation also stressed he importance at this time of supporting President Abbas and other moderate Palestinians in their efforts to build a stable Palestinian society.

The delegation included Alexander of Beth El, Troy. Rabbi Debora Gordon of Temple Berith Shalom, Troy, and Ron Miller, member of Temple Beth Emeth, Albany.
