The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors. She or he will have political campaign and/or issue advocacy experience; a good track record in fundraising; proven program and organizational development skills; and strong personnel and financial management experience. The successful candidate should have excellent writing, strategic planning, and interpersonal, supervisory and political/campaign skills. Background should include significant non-profit administration and fundraising. Strong preference will be given to a candidate with a strong expertise either in working within the American Jewish community or in working on issues related to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. This position is based in Washington, DC or Chicago, IL. The Organization Brit Tzedek v'Shalom is America's largest grassroots Jewish peace organization, composed of American Jews deeply committed to Israel's well-being through the achievement of a negotiated settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. American Jews who share this perspective are coming to realize that their silence may be understood as approval for policies that have not been to the best interests of Israel's peace and well-being. That's why in our first six years, Brit Tzedek has grown to a network of over 40,000 supporters in 38 chapters, with offices in Chicago, and Washington, DC. We, like the overwhelming majority of Israelis and American Jews, believe that a safe and secure state of Israel necessitates that there also be an economically-viable Palestinian state standing by its side. Only then can a brighter future begin. Our work includes advocating to Congress and the White House for policies that promote peace, organizing Jews at the grassroots level, drawing tens of thousands of Jews across the country to speaking tours and conferences, organizing a religious voice for peace through our network of over 1,000 rabbis and cantors, building a progressive coalition within the Jewish community and promoting communal dialogue. The Brit Tzedek v'Shalom Board of Directors currently includes prominent rabbis from Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist movements, and also many of Brit Tzedek's most accomplished chapter leaders. Responsibilities of the Executive Director:
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors conducts evaluation of the Executive Director at the end of the first six months of employment and at least annually thereafter. The Executive Director will also supervise a team of 6 people based in our Chicago and Washington DC offices.
