Jessica Benjamin is a psychoanalyst in New York City who has written about
the importance of recognition in social and psychic life. Her best known book is The Bonds of Love: Psychoanalysis, Feminism and the Problem of
Domination. In addition to clinical practice and teaching at the New
York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy, she has been active in the Federated Faculty for Israel Palestine Peace and is working on a project on mutual acknowledgement between members of the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme and the Tel Aviv Institutes for Group Analysis and for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
