We're recruiting a responsible volunteer to co-lead our rapidly growing volunteer advocacy network in New York City. Our existing co-chair needs a second hand to grow our team of a dozen active district leaders and activate our network of 3,000 members and supporters. This could be you!
Description: The Advocacy Co-Chairs are responsible for the coordination of advocacy efforts in New York City to strengthen our impact in DC. The time commitment varies by season but ambitious co-chairs can expect to volunteer over 15 hours a month. The position relies heavily on email and some phone, with regular monthly meeting. This position is a member of the NYC Chapter Steering Committee.
Duties:
- Recruit advocacy volunteers and work with the Outreach Committee to integrate advocacy opportunities into our programs and events.
- Work closely with the national office and advocacy team, guide district co-chairs and local volunteers in establishing relationships with Congressional legislators.
- Communicate national talking points quickly to local leaders and sharing feedback from them with nationals.
- Provide opportunities to train, develop and cultivate prospective district co-chairs and leadership teams.
- Represent the organization during home district office visits.
