Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, a 53-year-old Palestinian obstetrician and public health expert, is looking for ways to harness his loss to the cause of peace and mutual understanding. Through his work in Israeli and Palestinian hospitals with Israeli and Palestinian patients and colleagues, he speaks out against violence and oppression and, by example, spreads the humanistic values in which he so strongly believes in.
